OBJECTIVES

• To provide understanding of aircraft structure.
• To familiarize different types of constructional features.
• To give understanding of load bearing capability & affect of altitude variation on aircraft structure.
• To give ideas & knowledge on strength weight ratio of an aircraft structure for selecting proper structural materials.
• To familiarize regarding structural load effect because of aircraft maneuvering.
• To understand aircraft bonded structural materials.

Introduction to fuselage structure, wing structure, stabilizer (Horizontal & vertical), Radom & cabin structure etc.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION

Theory

1. UNDERSTANDING THE BASIC CONCEPT OF AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE AND ITS CONSTRUCTION.

1.1       Explain various materials to be selected for manufacturing aircraft structure.

1.2       Discuss aircraft main structure & its division.

1.3       Define different structural parts as primary, secondary & tertiary.

2. AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE STRUCTURE

2.1       Define fuselage

2.2       Discus different types of fuselage.

2.3       Explain the difference between monocoque, semi monocoque and stress skin fuselage structure

2.4       Define longeron, stringer, former bulkhead etc.

3. WING STRUCTURE

3.1       Explain the types of wing structure

3.2       Discuses truss type structure

3.3       Discuss stressed skin type structure.

3.4       Familiarize with, wing spar, stringer, RIB false spar, false rib.

3.5       Describe wing attachment with the fuselage.

4. STABILIZERS AND CONTROL SURFACE CONSTRUCTION

4.1       Describe the structural feature of stabilizer & Flight Control surface.

4.1       Learning of Removal/ Installation of Aileron, Elevator, Rudder structural surfaces.

4.2       Practically shows the skill of Identification of horizontal and vertical Stabilizer structure.

5. Cabin structure

5.1       Show the skill of recognition of different doors of the aircraft.

5.2       Observe and recognize the cargo doors and other compartment.

5.3       Removal/ Installation of windshield and windows.

6. Radom

6.1       Removal/ Installation of Radom.

7. Nacelles/Pod/Fairing

7.1       Removal/ Installation of Different Fairing and panels.

7.2       Observe and locate engine nacelles, Pod and structure.
