Introduction: IEEE 802 Suggest a family of IEEE which describe with Local Area Network (LAN) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). It is compare with SS7, OSI and finally describe about the last two step of OSI Reference Model. IEEE 802 also Describe with OSI Reference Model logical Step. OSI Data Link Divided into two Sub Steps. Those are (i) Logical Link Control (LLC) and (ii) Media Access Control (MAC).
All Step Publish by the Following ways-
Data Link Layer:
• LLC Sub layer
• MAC Sub Layer
Physical Layer: It is maintained by IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standard Committee (LMSE).
Currently, The work of IEEE 802 Divided into The Flowing Group:
• Higher Layer LAN Protocol Group: Networking and Network Management.
• Logical Link Control (LLC) Working Group: Currently inactive
• Ethernet Working Group: CMS or CD Based Standard for LAN
• Token Bus Working Group: Make Standard for Token Bus LAN
• Token Ring Working Group: Make Standard for Token LAN
• Metropolitan Area Network Working Group: Make Standard for MAN
• Broadband TAG: This is a Technical Advisory Group who make Recommended Practices for Broadband LAN
• Fiber Optic TAG: Make Recommended Practices for Optical Fiber.
• Isochronous LAN Working Group: Make Standard for Isochronous LAN
• Security Working Group: Make Standard for Inter Operable LAN/MAN
• Wireless LAN Working Group: Make Standard for Wireless LAN
• Demand Priority Working Group: Make Standard for LAN Publicity
• Cable Modem Working Group: Make Standard for Carry Data by Cable TV Network
• Wireless Personal Area Networks Working Group: Make Standard for Personal Area Network into Local Distance.
• Broadband Wireless Access Working Group: Make Standard for Broadband Wireless Access.
• Resilient Packet Ring Working Group: Inactivity Packet Ring
• Radio Regulatory TAG
• Mobile Broadband Wireless Access
• Media Independent Handoff
• Wireless Regional Area Network
