Introduction: IEEE 802 Suggest a family of IEEE which describe with Local Area Network (LAN) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). It is compare with SS7, OSI and finally describe about the last two step of OSI Reference Model. IEEE 802 also Describe with OSI Reference Model logical Step. OSI Data Link Divided into two Sub Steps. Those are (i) Logical Link Control (LLC) and (ii) Media Access Control (MAC).

• Metropolitan Area Network Working Group: Make Standard for MAN
• Broadband TAG: This is a Technical Advisory Group who make Recommended Practices for Broadband LAN
• Fiber Optic TAG: Make Recommended Practices for Optical Fiber.
• Isochronous LAN Working Group: Make Standard for Isochronous LAN
• Security Working Group: Make Standard for Inter Operable LAN/MAN
• Wireless LAN Working Group: Make Standard for Wireless LAN
